Who We Are
We began our journey way back in the middle of 1950's. Being an initial migrant
from the land of 'Pala Pepper'(which was quoted in London Market in early 1900s), our
grandfather was a visionary, planted pepper and cardamom in our farm located at
the midst of western Ghats in Idukki, Kerala, India. His younger son, our founder Mr. P.
J. Chacko Puthiyakunnel, after thirty years of experience in spices trading with
cooperative sector, started own venture – Newhill Spices - in the year 1995 in Munnar,
Idukki in Kerala state. Cardamom, Black Pepper, White Pepper, Clove, Ginger and
Nutmeg are among the main spices growing in ideal climatic locations at the high
ranges of Idukki. We offer a complete range of cardamom and other spices
products. We trade cardamom, pepper and few other spices with the exporters, local
buyers and in the retail market. Since last 25 years, we deal directly with hundreds of
farmers and planters within Idukki.
There are varieties of factors like climatic conditions, soil quality and planting
techniques that can make significant changes in taste and flavor of spices. The
quality and flavor differs even from soil to soil, place to place and in the processing
techniques. Ourselves, being planters and we deal with hundreds of farmers directly,
we are experts in identifying the crop that perfectly matches your special
requirements.
